Improve Your Game Play by Wearing the Right Sports Apparel & Accessories
When going to school, there’s a certain set of clothes which are deemed proper to wear. When going for a night out, you want to look your best so you put on something a bit fancier than what you usually wear to work. When going to the gym, you need to wear comfortable clothes which will not restrict your movement during the workout session. The same thing holds true when you are playing any kind of sport.
In today’s world where it is very easy to fall into the trap of leading a sedentary lifestyle, you do need to exert the extra effort in joining a team sport or engaging in an individual sport. You have to stay physically active so that you can become fit and healthy, and the best way to do so is by engaging in sports. When playing or practicing, you need to be outfitted accordingly – and this is something that we will delve a bit deeper into in the following section.
Different Strokes for Different Sports: Which Apparel Should I Wear?
Think of sports apparel as the equivalent of a school uniform. If you do not wear the proper gear while playing, your performance will be hampered and your movement might be restricted. You may not even smell good at the end of a practice session because most materials do not let the skin breathe so sweat is absorbed. Based on the sport that you are playing, here are the different types of apparel that you should wear:
- For basketball players.
Inside the court, basketball players should wear the jersey shirt and standard length shorts. The uniform gives them plenty of room to move around the court while shooting hoops. Outside the court, members of the varsity team can wear the jackets with patches. Also called a varsity jackets, these are usually embroidered with Chenille letters that represent the initials of the school or the player.
- For cyclists.
Those who are into cycling should wear skin tight outfits which help eliminate the possibility of chafing. Cycling shorts are made in such a way that the limbs are given utmost freedom in movement in order to pedal the bike. Aside from the cycling shorts, a cyclist should also have a biker helmet, kneepads, elbow caps and sunglasses.
- For runners.
A collared sports shirt or sleeveless jersey and running shorts are the standard garments worn by runners. But more than what’s worn on the outside, it is the running shoes which is most important to an athlete. The shoes should be a pair specifically designed for running so that the ankles and the entire feet will be protected from the stress of running.
- For swimmers.
Naturally, swimmers should wear the proper swimsuit when training or practicing in the pool. Aside from the swimsuit, they should also have earplugs, waterproof goggles, a nose clip and a swimming cap.
- For tennis players.
Lastly, tennis players are probably the most fashionable of the bunch. Men wear collared shirts and tennis shorts while women wear tops and tennis shorts or skirts. The shoes are also important, along with caps, headbands and wristbands.
